Established by the Government of Gujarat in 2019, Sardar Patel Zoological Park (SPZP) was envisioned as a centre for wildlife conservation, education, research and nature-based tourism. Spread across 56 hectares near the iconic Statue of Unity, the park recreates diverse global habitats while providing world-class animal care and immersive visitor experiences. Today, SPZP has evolved into one of India's leading zoological institutions, inspiring millions of visitors to appreciate biodiversity through conservation-focused recreation, scientific management and experiential learning.

The Beginning
SPZP established by the Government of Gujarat under the Kevadia Jungle Safari Society. Master Plan approved by the Central Zoo Authority..
2020
Grand Inauguration
Officially inaugurated by the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India on 30 October 2020, coinciding with the 145th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
2023
Professional Management
Operational management entrusted to Greens Zoological Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre Society (GZRRCS) under a Public-Private Partnership framework, strengthening animal care, conservation education and visitor services.

Growing with Purpose

The year 2025–26 marked another significant milestone in SPZP's journey as a modern zoological institution. Throughout the year, the park strengthened its commitment to wildlife conservation, animal welfare, conservation education, scientific research and sustainable zoo management. Significant progress was made in habitat development, veterinary care, conservation breeding, wildlife rescue and rehabilitation, education and outreach, staff capacity building, and academic collaborations, further reinforcing SPZP's role as a leading centre for conservation, learning and responsible visitor experiences.
